Janaki Blum
Dr. Blum is Director of SARID, the South Asia Research Institute for Policy and Development which is active in the reconstruction of Sri Lanka. Dr. Blum has more than 20 years of experience in science research and education, laboratory and project management, and writing and consultation. Her areas of specialty include biomass and appropriate technology and sustainable horticulture. A Professor of Biochemistry from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, she previously taught at the Tufts School of Engineering.
Joann Carmin
Dr. Carmin is currently an Assistant Professor of Environmental Policy and Planning in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has conducted extensive research into the flooding in Central Europe in 2002, research that was jointly sponsored by the US National Science Foundation and the Czech Ministry of Education. Dr. Carmin currently teaches a course on "Disaster, Vulnerability and Resilience." She has also taught courses on community involvement, social movements, current and emerging topics in environmental policy and planning, and indicators of sustainable development over the past 40 years.
Robert Cowherd
Robert Cowherd is an Adjunct Professor in the Architecture Department of the Rhode Island School of Design, teaching courses from Architecture and Landscape Design Studios to History/Theory of Art, Architecture and Urbanism. During five years of work in Indonesia, he facilitated conservation work at the royal palace Karaton Surakarta in Solo, Java; coordinated the 1995 Aga Khan Award for Architecture; and is an ongoing participant in several networks of Indonesian design, conservation and planning professionals.
David Wortmann
Mr. Wortmann currently works at the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE) in Bonn, Germany and is an Advisor to Dr. Hermann Scheer, a member of the German Parliament.
