Greetings from the Social Entrepreneurs in Health student organization at HSPH.
We're very excited to announce the "Blueprint for Health" kickoff event to be held in Harvard Yard in the afternoon of Friday, December 5th.
We foresee this being an extraordinary opportunity to provide students (from HSPH, HKS, HBS, GSE, The IGL, MIT and beyond) who are passionate about social entrepreneurship with an opportunity to forge teams which will engage in a varied and growing list of projects we've identified with private and public sector organizations.
The HSPH student organization "Social Entrepreneurs in Health" will be hosting an extravaganza event to kick off our spring projects. This will be your opportunity to get plugged into an interdisciplinary student team which will engage in projects related to education, global health, technology, policy, business and marketing.
"Blueprint for Health" aims to empower students to develop their social entrepreneurial skills by providing opportunities for you to (1) join a team of students to get involved in one of many projects that we have already secured with existing public health enterprises, and (2) give your own 90 second pitch to fellow students in order to build support around your idea.
We have two main types of projects on offer, (1) developing a business plan for new medical technologies, and (2) strategy/policy consulting for health related organizations including NGOs and for-profit enterprises.
The inter-disciplinary team projects can be taken for credit (HST939) or non-credit and students may benefit from the mentorship of Harvard faculty members as well as leaders at sponsoring organizations.
Participation in these projects will give you hands-on experience in social entrepreneurship, in terms of managing start-ups and helping to generate strategies for organizational scale and program development.
Projects on offer include developing a business plan for a new medical diagnostic device, helping strengthen a national health system, and generating an impact model for IT interventions in the developing world.
Teams will be formed in the 2nd-half of the event and a preliminary list of team members will be collected near the end. You may still apply individually after the 5th, and a full list of projects will be distributed, however we strongly encourage that you to attend this event in person, so you may meet your 'future' team members!
Please feel free to contact us for further details at blueprintforhealth@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you on the 5th!
