The ESI sponsored the Tufts chapter of Initiating Mutual Understanding through Students Exchange (IMUSE). The program was formed by a group of students from Harvard, Peking and Tsinghua University as a way to encourage cultural understanding leading up to the 2008 Olympics.

A group of eight students traveled to the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Programs:

During the 2008 winter recess, two students traveled to Beijing to undertake research on China's rapidly expanding wind energy industry. Through meetings with various experts active within the field, the students sought to assess the current status and the future prospects for large-scale wind development and prescribe realistic policy solutions to foster such development.

Travis Bradford is the author of "Solar Revolution," and the director of the Prometheus Institute. The two debated whether or not solar energy will provide a significant portion of the world's energy by 2050. The debate was moderated by Associate Provost Vincent Manno..
