Research and Engagement Supporting Poverty Elimination in Haiti (RESPE)

Christian Haitian Entrepreneurial Society (CHES)

CHES is pleased to partner with RESPE Boston branch located at Tufts University in the medical training initiative in Pò Fransè, Haiti. Our members have many strong ties throughout the country of Haiti.

The leader of this project on our end of this initiative will be Rose Roseme. Rose is a Haitian registered nurse who immigrated to the United States over twenty years ago from Haiti. Rose will be essential in assisting RESPE in identifying other trainers, health professionals in Northern Haiti. She will accompany RESPE Boston to Haiti and conduct basic medical trainings along with the local trainers at the end of May beginning of June of 2009. Rose and the local professionals will coordinate the curriculum that will be taught. Rose will assist RESPE in finding a mid-wife trainer.

The goal is to pair the GHI with one(s) who have the years of experience and can successfully transfer the knowledge and teachings they have accrued over the years. Rose will work with the identified professional in presenting a basic curriculum for prenatal and postpartum care. The teachings will be administered through hands on demonstrations. Topics such as sanitation, myths and superstitions unique to the Haitian culture, delivery, and infant care will be addressed.
