Being a student of development economics, I’m really interested in the idea and potential of microfinance. It was great to spend so much time out in the field of an efficiently run for-profit organization to understand how the model really works. My main project – the social impact and market assessment study – allowed me to visit several dozen centre meeting and conduct one-on-one interviews with clients in order to gather data for our study. We also spent a lot of time in the different field branches and field officers, getting to learn how they go about their daily business, giving us a very bottom up view of microfinance.
